Tugce Albayrak - a Good Samaritan who tragically died in Germany

Tuğçe Albayrak, age 23, died on November 28, 2014, in Germany.

On November 15, 2014, Tuğçe was at a McDonald's Restaurant in Offenbach, near Frankfurt.

She heard cries coming from the bathroom of the restaurant. Two young women were being harassed by several young men. She intervened to help the women. The confrontation moved to the parking lot of the restaurant when one of the males struck Tuğçe on the head, which caused her to fall to the ground. It has not been determined if the punch or the fall fatally injured her.

She went into a coma and was hospitalized for two weeks. Doctors told her family that Tuğçe was brain dead and advised them to switch off life support. She subsequently died on her 23rd birthday.

A male, Senal M., age 18, from Serbia, is in custody over the attack. His surname has not been released to the public.

Her funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners. Many Germans are greatly

Tuğçe was born in Germany. She was of Turkish ethnicity and was a member of the Islamic faith. She was studying at the University of Giessen to become a teacher.

Friends stated that Tuğçe was a bright and happy person who will be forever missed.

A petition calling for Tuğçe to be awarded the national order for merit posthumously has gathered more than 100,000 signatures.

Tuğçe's loved ones are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She will be forever missed and forever mourned.

Tuğçe is survived by many loving friends and family members.

Tuğçe is a Good Samaritan. God knows we need more women like her in this world who try to do the right thing.
