Shaun Diamond - Law Enforcement - California

Police Officer Shaun Diamond, age 46, died in the line of duty on October 29, 2014, at a hospital in Pasadena, California.

Shaun was a member of the Pomona Police Department. He had 8 years of service with the Department and 16 years in law enforcement.

On October 28, 2014, Shaun was the lead officer of a SWAT team which was attempting to serve a warrant on a member of the Outlaws motorcycle gang.

At about 2:00 a.m, the SWAT team was trying to bust out the storm door of a house in San Gabriel. The subject inside the house fired a single shot from a shotgun. Shaun was shot in the head. He was wearing a Kevlar helmet.  It is speculated that the shot may have been a ricochet.

Shaun was rushed to a hospital but sadly he died of his injuries the next morning.

The subject, David Martinez, age 36, of San Gabriel, was taken into custody at the scene.  He is a motorcycle gang member and has previous convictions for assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.

Shaun was working as a field training officer and was involved in providing services to businesses and residents in Pomona's downtown area.

The Pomona Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. They describe Shaun as a top notch guy with a great sense of humor. He was active in the community and was well liked.  He will be forever remembered.

Shaun's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He will be forever mourned.

Shaun is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including two children.
