Barbarism Alert - Alan Henning - British aid worker - beheaded in Syria

Alan Henning
Alan Henning, age 47, died sometime before October 3, 2014, somewhere in Syria.

Alan was beheaded by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria", also called ISIS or the "Islamic State".

ISIS is a terrorist organisation which claims religious and political authority over all Muslims. Its ambition is to establish a "caliphate" to control Muslim regions of the Middle East including Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Cyprus and parts of Turkey.

Alan was murdered in retaliation for British airstrikes against ISIS militants in Iraq.

Alan was a taxi driver from Salford in northern England.  He volunteered to go to Syria as an aidworker.  He was driving a truck as part of an informal convoy of British Muslims taking medical supplies to hospitals in northwest Syria. He had made 3 prior trips to Syria on aid expeditions.

On December 27, 2013, the aid convoy was stopped by gunmen and he was abducted and subsequently executed.

It is all so barbaric and inhumane that it is hard to believe that this occurs in the 21st
Saint Jude, pray for Alan

him
century. The world seems to be populated by wolves.

Friends describe Alan as a remarkable man who was compassionate and determined to do something real for the people suffering from the civil war in Syria. He was known as Gadget or Gadge to his friends because of his much needed technical skills. He will be forever remembered.

Alan's family are devastated over his tragic death. They describe Alan as a peaceful and selfless man. He had stated that his visits to refugee camps in Syria had changed his life forever and that he felt compelled to return. He will be forever mourned.

Alan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Barbara; and his son and daughter, Adam and Lucy.

Pray for Alan's family. They have suffered an unspeakable loss.

God save us from the barbarians.  God save us from War. Amen.

Thank you for making a difference, Alan.

Pray that Alan is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
