Barbarism Alert - Steven Sotloff, American Journalist - Beheaded in Syria

Steven Sotloff
Steven Sotloff, age 31, of Miami, Florida, died on or before September 2, 2014, somewhere in Syria.

Steven was beheaded by the "Islamic State of Iraq and Syria", also called ISIS.

ISIS is a terrorist organisation which claims religious and political authority over all Muslims. Its ambition is to establish a "caliphate" to control Muslim regions of the Middle East including Iraq, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Israel, Lebanon, Cyprus and parts of Turkey.

Steven was murdered in retaliation for U.S. airstrikes in Iraq against ISIS militants.

ISIS is also threatening to strike targets in the United States if the U.S. continues to offer military aid to their enemies.

ISIS filmed the beheading of Steven and posted it on the Internet stating that "our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people".

It is all so barbaric and inhumane that it is hard to believe that this occurs in the 21st century. The world seems to be populated by wolves.

Steven attended the University of Central Florida from 2002 to 2004, where he
Angels of God, pray for Steven and
for those who have lost him
majored in journalism.

Steven was a freelance journalist and reported from Yemen, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Libya and Bahrain. He submitted reports to various news agencies, TV networks and magazines including Time and CNN.

He was kidnapped by ISIS members on August 4, 2014, near Aleppo, Syria.

Steven was a member of the Jewish faith and had dual U.S./Israeli citizenship.

Fellow journalists describe Steven as courageous, talented and insightful. He will be forever remembered.

Steven's family is devastated over his tragic death. He is described as an honorable man who had always tried to help the weak. He is also described as a loyal and generous son, brother and grandson. He will be forever mourned.

Steven is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father and mother, Arthur and Shirley Sotloff; and his sister, Lauren.

Pray for Steven's family. They have suffered an unspeakable loss.

God save us from the barbarism of war. Amen.

Pray that Steven is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
