Joseph Ianzano - a victim of drunk driving in Florida

Joseph Ianzano
Joseph Ianzano, age 19, of Coconut Creek, Florida, died on August 16, 2014.

He was known as Joey to his family and friends.

It was a Saturday night. He and his friends went to a concert and he drove them back to his house. He thought that one of his buddies was to too drunk to drive home and tried to block the man's car with his own vehicle. When that failed he grabbed onto the car's spoiler and started yelling for his friend to stop.

The driver sped off and dragged Joseph with him. A few hundred yards away, the driver slammed into a tree.

Joseph was mortally injured and tragically passed away. The driver of the speeding car has not been charged with any offenses as of this posting.

Joseph's family are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He is described as a kid who always had a smile on his face. He is also described as a young man who was honest, caring, helpful, kind and giving. He liked fishing, trucks, country music, concerts and tailgating parties. He liked his dog, Jersey.

He was planning on entering firefighter college in a week.

Angels of God, pray for
Joey and for those who
have lost him.

To All Drivers: If you find that you are drunk or doped up on street drugs or prescription drugs or if you are falling asleep on your feet, do NOT drive. Call a family member or a friend for a ride; or take a taxi; or stay where you are until you sober up; or crawl home on your hands and knees. It will be better for you and for the world if you do.

Regret can last a lifetime.

Joseph is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Michael. He was predeceased by his mother, Kathy.

Pray for all who die while coming to the aid of others.

Pray for the men who die at age 19. Yesterday, they were just boys.

God save us from the drunk and the doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Joseph is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
