Jonathan French - Firefighter - Kentucky

Jonathan French
Firefighter Jonathan French, age 25, died in the line of duty on August 6, 2014, on a highway about a mile out of Glendale, Kentucky.

Jonathan was a member of the Glendale Volunteer Fire Department.  He had 5 years of service.

Jonathan and his mother, Lisa French, age 43, responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Interstate 65.  Their fire truck was at the side of the roadway.  They were in the "mop up" phase of the firefight. Tragically, at about 3:30 a.m., a semi tractor-trailer clipped their truck and plowed into them.

Jonathan was killed and his mother, Lisa, suffered injuries and was transported to a medical facility.

An investigation into the accident is underway. No charges have been laid against the driver of the semi as of this date.  A determination will have to be made as to whether this driver was speeding or driving recklessly.  Also tests should be conducted for impairment by drugs and alcohol.

The French family are avid volunteer firefighters.  Lisa's brother is the Fire Chief. Lisa
