Jamie Middlebrook - Firefighter - Indiana

Firefighter Jamie Middlebrook, age 41, died in the line of duty on August 5, 2014, at a fire near the St. Joseph/LaPorte County line, Indiana.

Jamie was a member of the New Carlisle Volunteer Fire Department. He was an Assistant Fire Chief. He had over 20 years of service.

He worked full time as a Paramedic with New Carlisle Emergency Medical Services.

New Carlisle is a town in suburban St. Joseph County, Indiana.

At about 9:00 p.m., Jamie attended a fire at a commercial building located near the St. Joseph/LaPorte County line. He and two other firefighters were inside of the building when the roof collapsed. One firefighter managed to escape unharmed. One suffered a broken ankle and minor burns.

Jamie Middlebrook was killed in the collapse of the roof.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

describe him as a man who was passionate about his job and about helping others. He will be forever remembered.

Jamie's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. They describe him as a wonderful man who was popular and helpful to others. He was a cancer survivor and he and his wife ran races to raise money for leukemia research. He will be forever mourned.

Jamie's father is also a senior volunteer firefighter with the Fire Department. Sadly, he was also attending the fire where his son died.

Jamie is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother, Carol; his father, Bob; an elder brother; and his wife, Julie.
