The Movie "Lone Survivor" and the tragedy of War in our World

Marcus Luttrell -
The Lone Survivor
"Lone Survivor" is a military action film released in late 2013. It was directed by Peter Berg and stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Erica Bana.

This movie is very well done, is popular and has received numerous accolades from the movie industry critics and from viewers.

It is based on a true account of four U.S. Navy SEALs who in 2005 went on a secret mission to kill Ahmad Shah, a high-level Taliban leader in Afghanistan, who is responsible for killing over 20 U.S. Marines, as well as villagers and refugees who were aiding U.S. forces.

The four SEAL teammates were team leader Michael Murphy; snipers Marcus Luttrell; Matthew Axelson; and communications specialist Danny Dietz.

The movie is well done and should be seen by every young man who is contemplating joining the military. If ever anyone entertained any notions that war is glamorous or exciting, then this movie should set you straight.

It is real. It is brutal and bloody and frightening. It is tragic. Men on both sides of this conflict are shot repeatedly. They fall down the sides of cliffs. Heads are shot and explode. Fingers are shot off. Blood spurts from mouths. Only Marcus Luttrell survives this mission due to the intervention of friendly Afghani villagers.

You watch this and think.... God help us, mankind hasn't changed one iota from the cave man era. We blow each other away in continual conflicts that have gone on
We are descended from them and we still
are them.
for the past 60,000 years of evolution. We just can't get with the program of trying to make this world work - providing peace and safety, lodging, food, clean water, health care, and the necessities of life for everyone, world-wide.

We all belong to one species and one tribe - the human race.

However, seemingly none of us are on the same page. We are all at each other's throats.

Pray for Mike Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matt Axelson. Pray that they are with God in Heaven.

Pray for Marcus Luttrell who survived this horror but who still lives with the memories.

God give us peace because our governments are too dumb to do it for us.  Amen.

God help us. Amen.
