Brandon Garabrant - U.S. Military

Brandon Garabrant
Lance Cpl. Brandon J. Garabrant, age 19, of Peterborough, New Hampshire, died on June 20, 2014, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

It has been reported that Brandon died from the explosion of a roadside bomb.

He was assigned to the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.


Brandon had only been in Afghanistan for a couple of months.

Brandon became known in the media last year when he asked to wear his dress uniform to his graduation from ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough. But the school's principal, citing regulations, told him he had to wear the traditional cap and gown.


High School officials stated that they are shocked and are grieving for this young man. They are grateful for his service to his country.

Brandon had been a volunteer firefighter at the Temple Volunteer Fire Department for
Angels of God, pray for Brandon and for those
who have lost him
several years and also had joined the Peterborough Police Department's Explorer Program.  His firefighting comrades are in mourning over the death of their brother. 

Friends describe Brandon as a young gentleman who loved what he was doing. He was proud of his service in the military.  

Other describe him as a good guy who had his whole life ahead of him. He would do anything for anybody. He just wanted to help. He will be forever missed. 

Brandon's family members are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. Oceans of tears will be shed for this young man.  He will be forever mourned.

Brandon is survived by many loving comrades, friends and relatives.

Thank you for serving, Brandon.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Brandon.

Pray for the 19 year old men who die in War. Yesterday, they were just boys.

Pray that Brandon is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
