Roberto Sanchez - Law Enforcement - Los Angeles - a hit and run victim

Police Officer Roberto Sanchez, age 32, died in the line of duty on May 3, 2014, at a hospital in Los Angeles, California.

Officer Sanchez was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department. He had 6 years of service.

At about 3:45 a.m., Officer Sanchez and his partner were on patrol in the Harbor City section of Los Angeles. They were following a speeding vehicle on Anaheim Street and attempting to conduct a traffic stop. Their vehicle was violently struck by an SUV. Both officers were trapped in the vehicle but were removed by emergency units. They were transported to a local hospital where sadly Roberto Sanchez passed away from his injuries.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene on foot. A person of interest was apprehended a short time later. The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is not known as yet if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The Los Angeles Police Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. He

will never be forgotten. The other officer who was injured in the crash is also the best friend of Officer Sanchez.

Police Department officials describe Roberto as hardworking and compassionate.

The family of Roberto are devastated over his sudden and senseless death. They will forever mourn him.

Roberto grew up in Santa Ana and was married just three months ago.

Roberto is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his mother and father; and his wife.

Thank you for your service to the public, Roberto. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

God save us from the drunk drivers, the doped up drivers and the speeding drivers. They are killing us, Father.

Pray that Roberto is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
