Leonore Draper - an Activist against gun violence is killed in Chicago

Leonore Draper, age 32, died on April 25, 2014, in Chicago, Illinois.

Earlier that evening, Leonore had attended an anti-violence fundraiser. She returned home to her neighborhood in West Pullman. She was inside her car when she was shot either by a drive-by shooter or in the cross-fire during a gang shootout.

Leonore was originally from Houston, Texas. She was a senior grants analyst for the Chicago Public Schools.

She was also a Girl Scout leader, and a volunteer for Multiple Sclerosis charities. She

was an active church member. She worked as a make-up artist.

She had recently earned a master’s degree from DePaul University.

She fought diligently against the entire issue of gun violence. She was heavily involved with the anti-violence group Project Orange Tree.

Family members describe Leonore as a wonderful person who will be forever mourned and missed.

Leonore is survived by many loving friends and family members, including her husband, Jason.
