Kasii Haith - a 4 year old killed by Pit Bull Dogs in Delaware

Kasii Haith
Kasii Haith, age 4, died on May 7, 2014, in rural Kent County, Delaware.

Kasii and his 24 year old mother, from Camden, Delaware, were visiting a friend in the afternoon. The mother and the boy were outside in the yard and the dogs were chasing the boy and he was chasing them in a game of tag. The mother went inside for a moment to use the bathroom. About 4:00 p.m., the three pit bulls attacked Kasii.

The mother, who is pregnant, ran outside to save the boy. She was bitten several times on her arms and later required 20 stitches. Two repairmen who were working at the house also stepped in to save the boy. They tried to fend off the dogs with plastic pipes.

Emergency services responded to the scene and began first aid on the boy, but tragically he died.

The dogs were euthanized and were tested for rabies. They did not have rabies.

Jesus, pray for Kasii.

It was reported that the boy had been around these same three dogs numerous times in the past without incident, which is immaterial to the tragedy.

Pit bulls are vicious and unpredictable. They can turn on you in a second.  They were bred 200 years ago for bull baiting, bear baiting and dog fighting. They were never intended to be family pets. They have proven that they can kill people, both young and old.

Kent County and the State of Delaware should ban pit bulls and related dog breeds from within their jurisdictions period.

Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.

What is it about this concept that the legislators in Delaware do not understand?

Kasii is described as a fun, funny and witty little boy who was looking forward to starting Kindergarten next Fall.

Kasii is survived by many loving family members and well-wishers, who will forever mourn him.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

We know that Kasii is playing in the fields of Heaven.
