Joseph Prevett - Law Enforcement - Thunder Bay, Ontario

Constable Joseph Prevett, age 50, died in the line of duty on May 7, 2014, at a hospital in Bracebridge, Ontario.

Joe was a member of the Thunder Bay Police Service. He worked in the K-9 unit.

That morning he was attending a police canine training exercise near Gravenhurst, Ontario, when he collapsed. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly passed away.

The cause of death was heart failure. This medical condition was not known prior to his death.

joined the Thunder Bay Police Service in 2003.

The Thunder Bay Police Service is in mourning over the death of their brother. He will be greatly missed.

Joe's family are devastated by his sudden and tragic passing. He will be forever mourned.

Friends stated that Joe was a good man and a good police officer. He was well respected by his peers.

Joe was featured in a television news article about the retirement in late 2013 of his police dog, Thunder, after 10 years of diligent service. Joe and his family took Thunder into their home for some well deserved rest and relaxation.

Joe is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members, including his wife and children.

Thank you for your service to the public, Joe.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Joe is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
