Dana Tweedie - a Victim of Impaired Driving in Galveston, Texas

Dana Tweedie, age 61, died on February 22, 2014, at a hospital in Galveston, Texas.

Dana and his wife, Linda, age 52, were riding on a motorcycle after 7:00 p.m. on Galveston's Seawall Boulevard. They were struck by a rented vehicle driven by Callie Inman, age 18, of Dayton, Texas. She was pulling out of a parking lot when she collided with the motorcycle.

It has been reported that Callie Inman exited her vehicle and tried to blend in with the crowd to evade law enforcement. It is reported that Callie Inman may have been impaired by drugs or alcohol.

Dana was a retired police officer. He had 26 years of service with the Houston Police

Department. His wife, Linda, is a working police officer with the Houston Police Department. She has 30 years of service.

Linda was seriously injured in the collision. Both Linda and Dana were transported to a local hospital where Dana tragically was pronounced deceased.

The Houston Police Department is in mourning over the death of their comrade. They are praying for the recovery of Linda.

Dana grew up in Milford, Connecticut and attended Jonathan Law High School. He played football in High School.

He worked for the Milford Police Department in Connecticut and then for the Houston Police Department.

Dana was into motorcycles and was a member of Los Carnales/La Familia club where he was blessed to find many of his closest friends.

Loved ones describe Dana as a caring and generous man who put the needs of

others before his own. He had personality, drive and heart.

He will be forever mourned by those who knew and loved him.

Dana is survived by many loving friends and family members including his mother Marion Tweedie; his brothers, Bill and James Tweedie; his wife, Linda and his children Jennifer Grimsley, Gregory Tweedie, Ryan Tweedie and Kyle Tweedie. Dana was predeceased by his father.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

God save us from the drunk and doped up drivers. They are killing us, Father.

God save us from the speeding drivers. They are speeding us to our graves.

Pray for the recovery of Linda. 

Pray that Dana is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
