Michal Nelson - a woman killed by a pit bull in New Mexico

Michal
Michal Nelson, age 41, died on December 13, 2013, at her home in Jarales, New Mexico.

Sometime between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., Michal was outside of her home attempting to put a chain leash on her pit bull dog, when the dog mauled and bit her to death.

Michal's son discovered her body and killed the pit bull that attacked her.

It is reported that Michal had 7 to 12 dogs on her property.  It is not known at this time how many were pit bulls.

Authorities are looking into the issue of whether Michal Nelson was a dog breeder or was running an animal shelter or if the dogs were simply household pets.

Friends describe Michal as a woman who dedicated her life to taking care of strays or animals in need.  She had a big heart.

Friends also describe her as a positive and upbeat woman, who will be missed.
Pit Bull

Pit bull dogs should be bred out of existence.  They are a menace and serve no purpose.

Elected officials in Valencia County, New Mexico, should enact legislation banning this dog breed and others like it from their jurisdiction.

Death by dog is not acceptable in a civilized country.

Michal is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her son.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next.

Pray that Michal is in heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
