Capt. David I. Lyon, age 28, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died on December 27, 2013, from wounds suffered when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Kabul, Afghanistan.He was assigned to the 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado.
David was serving a year-long deployment to Afghanistan and was performing a combat advisory mission with Afghan National Army Commandos, while working with Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan.
He was scheduled to return to the Peterson Base in February of 2014.
David had graduated from Sandpoint High School in 2003, where he competed in track and field.

David had five years of service with the Air Force. He had graduated from the Air Force Academy.
He will be forever missed by those who knew him.
David is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
Thank you for serving, David.
Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like David.
Pray that David is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
