Cole Porter - Firefighter - New Jersey

Cole Porter, of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, died on October 2, 2013.

Cole was a member of the Shrewsbury Volunteer Fire Department. He had previously been named Fireman of the Year for his department.

Cole had been critically injured in a collision during the Tour de Fair Haven bicycle race on September 15, 2013. He had been hospitalized since the accident.

Friends are mourning the passing of this man. He is described as a man who stepped up to the plate, who was calm and had a positive energy. He is also described as fearless and determined.

Others describe him as sweet and gentle. He had a sense of humor and was always joking. He was dedicated to the Fire Department.

Cole was an athlete who participated in Triathlons and bike races.

He had participated in search and rescue operations as a result of Hurricane Sandy and did so without hesitation.

Family members describe Cole as a great husband and father. His family was the most important thing to him.

Cole is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Megan and their two daughters.
