Van Perry - Law Enforcement - Mississippi

Corporal Van Perry, age 49, died on September 5, 2013, at a hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.

Van was a member of the Carthage Police Department. He had 15 years of service.

On August 28, 2013, Corporal Perry had arrested a shoplifting suspect. He had transported the suspect to the police station and began to interview him when he suddenly collapsed. The suspect then alerted other personnel.

of Mississippi Medical Center. He remained there until passing away on September 5th, 2013.

Van passed away due to heart related medical issues.

Van's father, who was also a police officer, died in 2001 when he was struck by a vehicle while conducting a roadside checkpoint.

Van is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, one daughter and two sons.
