Jay Wood - a Good Samaritan died in Kentucky

Jay Wood
Jay Wood, age 33, of Louisville, died on September 7, 2013, in Shelby County, Kentucky.

Jay was travelling down Interstate 64, when he came across the scene of a motor vehicle accident.

He stopped to help. So did Charles Burtt, age 71, of Virginia. Both men were hit while they were out of their cars by a semi, which appeared to be switching lanes to get out of the way of the other crash.

Both men were killed upon impact.

It is unknown at the time of this posting if charges will be laid against the driver of the semi-trailer.

Jay lived in Louisville but he was originally from Green County.

Jay's fiancee had just given birth 5 weeks ago to a baby girl. He was at the delivery.

Family members are devastated over this tragedy. But they know that this was exactly

what Jay would do. He came to the aid of others. That was his nature.

Family members said that he was a great father to two boys and a girl and a stepfather to three. He loved to coach Dragon Youth football in Louisville and to be with his family as much as he could.

He is described as a good person who had his faults but who was a good son who was well loved.

Jay is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Mary Wood; his fiancee, Jessica Hayse; his 3 children and 3 stepchildren.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray for all who die while coming to the aid of others. Pray for the Good Samaritans. Amen.

Pray that Jay is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
