Daniel Rivera - Law Enforcement - Florida

Deputy Sheriff Daniel Rivera, age 32, died on September 21, 2013, at the Broward Health North medical facility in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Daniel was a member of the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Florida. He had 10 years of service.

On September 11, 2013, Daniel had been on his way to the police station at 6:15 a.m., when he was involved in a single-vehicle crash along I-95, in Pompano Beach. It had rained and the road may have been slick.  The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on the passenger side, causing Deputy Rivera to suffer severe head injuries.

He served most of his 10 years with the agency as a Department of Detention deputy. He transferred to the Department of Law Enforcement in May 2012. He was assigned to the Pompano Beach district office as a road patrol deputy.

Daniel came from a family of law enforcement officers.  He liked spending time with his family.  He was into fitness and dancing to Latin music and the New York Mets.

Police Officials stated:  “Our entire agency is feeling the loss of this young, brave deputy who was taken too soon from his family, friends and coworkers.”

Daniel is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, his siblings, his son and his girlfriend, Andrea Mendez.

Thank you for your service to the public, Daniel.

Pray for all who linger and suffer. Amen.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray that Daniel is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
