Octavio Herrera - U.S. Military

Staff Sgt. Octavio Herrera, age 26, of Caldwell, Idaho, died on August 11, 2013, in Paktia Province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with indirect fire.

He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

This was his third deployment to Afghanistan.

Octavio graduated from Caldwell High School in 2005. He took courses at college in Phoenix, Arizona and at Boise State University. He enlisted in the Army in 2007.

He had always wanted to join the military. He had plans to possibly become a law enforcement officer when he got out of the military.

He is also described as generous, bright, loyal and hard-working.

Octavio is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother and father; two brothers; a sister; and his wife, Courtney.

Thank you for serving, Octavio.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Octavio.

Pray that Octavio is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
