Ivorie Klusmann - Law Enforcement - Georgia

Police Officer Ivorie Klusmann, age 31, died in the line of duty on August 10, 2013, near the intersection of DeKalb Medical Parkway and Heritage Park Trail, in DeKalb County, Georgia.

Ivorie was a member of the DeKalb County Police Department. He had 10 months of service. He was assigned to the East Precinct.

At about 2 a.m., Officer Klusmann had pulled over a driver during a traffic stop. He took the driver’s information and went back to his patrol car, when the suspect fled the scene. Officer Klusmann pursued the driver for a short distance until the chase was called off. A short time later another police officer in the area notified dispatchers that he spotted the suspect driver.

car left the roadway and struck a tree. He passed away at the scene of the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The driver who initiated all of this fled the scene and has not been located as of this posting.

Ivorie had graduated from the Police Academy in April of 2012.

The DeKalb County Police Department is in mourning over the tragic death of Officer Klusmann.

Ivorie is survived by many loving friends and relatives including two children.
