Eric Alva - a wounded Gay Marine and the Christian Hypocrites

Eric Alva, a gay Marine veteran, spoke at a meeting of the San Antonio City Council meeting on August 14, 2013.

He was speaking in favor of a non-discrimination ordinance in San Antonio that would add protections for sexual orientation, gender identity and veteran status.  He is a resident of San Antonio.

As Eric spoke, he was booed by a bunch of anti-gay protesters.

At a meeting outside City Hall before the council meeting, about 300 people protested against non-discrimination against gays and others.  Therefore they were really meeting to applaud and support discrimination against gays.

A pastor by the name of Charles Flowers stated at this meeting "Let them vote ‘no’ to this ordinance, and ‘yes’ to the reign of the kingdom of God."

Pastor Charles Flowers
Oh God, help us. Save us from this old school, dumbed down thinking from the 1950's.

Pastor Flowers should be organizing protests about employment for the unemployed in his area, housing for the poor, food for the underprivileged children in his area, good schools and universal health care and many other causes more important than opposing equal rights for gays.

Opposing war and the subsequent deaths and injuries of many  thousands of American soldiers during our numerous wars could also be a new focus and a new agenda for Pastor Flowers.

Eric Alva was the first U.S. soldier injured in Iraq when he stepped on a landmine. He lost a leg.

As he was booed at the meeting, he stated:  "To all you people that preach the word of God, shame on you because God loves me, like the day I laid bleeding on the sands of Iraq and that’s why he saved me."

Pray for equality
and justice in this
world
On his Facebook page later that day he stated: "Well I just left city council chambers and I feel like crying. I have never seen a city so divided and hateful towards each other. All of mankind should be ashamed. I already spoke and even some of the religious groups even boo’ed me as I spoke. Such disrespect as they preach the word of God.”

And Eric is right.  This Christian behaviour is shameful and is unlike Christ.

God save us from the Christian hypocrites. They always cast the first stone.  Amen.

Pray for equal rights for human beings all across this planet.  Pray for justice. Amen.
