Thomas Geoghegan Jr. and Joshua Adickes - Law Enforcement - Maryland

Officers Thomas Geoghegan Jr., age 43, and Joshua Adickes, age 27, died on June 30, 2013, when their airplane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, near Ocean City, Maryland.

Both men were members of the Ocean City Police Department, Maryland.

The men were off duty at the time of the crash. This was a recreational flight. Thomas Geoghegan was the pilot.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

Tommy Geoghegan is originally from Annapolis, Maryland. He began serving the department in 1991 as a seasonal officer and had served each summer since 2002. He also served numerous tours as an undercover narcotics detective and was currently assigned to the patrol division. When he wasn’t working as an officer, his other job was with InfoSys Networks, an Internet Technology firm specializing in network management.

He loved to fly airplanes and enjoyed taking his friends for airplane rides.

Police comrades describe him as courageous and dedicated.

Josh Adickes is originally from Long Valley, New Jersey. He was an athlete at West Morris Central High School in Chester, New Jersey, and graduated in 2004.

He went on to Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania, where he received a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, and after graduation, attended the Morris County Police Training Academy.

Summer of 2011 and was hired as a full-time officer in 2012. He was currently assigned to the patrol division.

Police Department officials describe him as fun-loving, charismatic and liked by all who knew him. He loved being an Ocean City police officer.

The Ocean City Police Department is in mourning for their comrades Tommy and Josh.

Thomas Geoghegan Jr. is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Joshua Adickes is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Dale; his mother, Geraldine; and his younger brothers, Jeremy and Justin.

Thank you for your service to the public, Tommy and Josh.
