Daniel Kavuliak - Slovakian Military

Sgt. Daniel Kavuliak, age 35, of Turzovka, died in the line of duty on July 9, 2013, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Daniel was a member of the 11th Mechanized Battalion of the Slovakian Army based in Martin, Slovakia.

Daniel was shot by an Afghan national army soldier at the Kandahar airfield. Six others were wounded in the attack. Slovak soldiers were training members of the Afghan Army.

Friends describe Daniel as a smart, kind and easy-going man.

Friends also describe him as a hero of Slovakia.

His family, friends, comrades and his town are in mourning over his tragic death.

Daniel is survived by many loving friends, comrades and relatives including his wife, Lucie.

Thank you for serving your country, Daniel.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to this war in Afghanistan. It is enough. We are sick with grief for men like Daniel.

Pray that Daniel is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
