Shane was a member of the Polk County Sheriff's Office. He had 15 years of service.
He was traveling westbound when his vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons. A nearby resident who heard the crash called 911 to report the crash and responding rescue workers extricated Shane from his patrol car. He was transported to Winter Haven Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police officials are in mourning over the death of Shane. He will be forever missed.
Shane started his career with the sheriff's office in 1998 and had worked as both a homicide detective and a Special Victims Unit detective. He was currently serving as a patrol deputy in the Northeast district of Polk County.

He had received numerous platoon recognitions, accomplishment reports, bureau, division, department, and Sheriff's commendations for his public service, compassion, generosity, and outstanding law enforcement and investigative work.
Shane is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife, Alisa; and their five children.
