Ken Harris - Firefighter - Texas

Firefighter Ken Harris, age 52, died coming to the aid of others on April 17, 2013, in West, Texas.

Ken responded to a massive and horrendous fertilizer plant explosion.

Ken was an off duty Dallas Firefighter. He was a 31 year veteran with Dallas Fire Rescue. He lived in West, Texas, but did not work there.

The blast killed 14 people and injured 200 others. Many homes were obliterated or damaged in this town of 2,807.

Normally munitions factories, fertilizer factories, propane factories, chemical processors, and fireworks companies are not allowed in the town limits of an inhabited area. What happened here?

Saint Maximilian Kolbe, who
also came to the aid of
strangers, pray for Kenny
It's time for a re-visit of Texas municipal zoning laws regarding potentially dangerous factories being built near the homes of citizens.

There is no vacant prairie left in Texas?

Ken's wife stated that he was a good husband and a good father and her best friend. He loved his wife and sons.

Other family members stated that Ken was strong and determined. His boys remember fishing trips with him when they were growing up. These men loved their father.

Ken is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Ken Harris Sr.; his wife, Holly; his sons Judd, Heath and Jarrod.

Pray for all who die while coming to the aid of others. They are the true heroes in our world. Amen.

Thank you for serving, Kenny.

Let us pray that Ken is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
