John Janos - Firefighter - Binghamton, New York

Saint Florian, Patron
Saint of Firefighters,
pray for John
Firefighter John Janos, age 57, died on the job on April 5 or April 6, 2013, at the Hawley Street fire station in Binghamton, New York.

John was a member of the Binghamton Fire Department. He had 25 years of service.

John was found deceased in his bunk. He died of a heart attack.

Just hours before he was found, John had been on a call, and had climbed up about five flights of stairs to disarm a smoke alarm.

Fire Department officials stated that John was a dedicated firefighter and a loving family man. He is also described as a valued member of the department and a trusted friend. He could always be counted on to be there for others.

John was always staying active. If he wasn't on call, he was tinkering or fixing things.

He volunteered for the Hazmat Team and was also a fully qualified paramedic.

The Department is grieving his loss.

John had previously served as president of Binghamton Firefighters Union, Local 729.

John is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and three children.

Pray for all who die as a result of their jobs.

Thank you for serving, John.

Let us pray that John is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

So sorry to his family for such a loss of a great man. My last name is also Janos. We're trying to locate my brother Frank and I came across this site. Losing someone is so difficult and I hope your family will lean on each other to get through this...
