Jim had drowned in his own vehicle which was found in the lake. His body was found on April 5, 2013.
James was a University student and a resident of Crestwood, Illinois.
Family members describe Jim as well-liked and a go-getter.
James was involved in a break-up with his girlfriend, which apparently he initiated. But the two were on speaking terms and there was a possibility the couple would get back together.
Sometime around March 27, Jim suffered a meltdown and started contacting friends to talk but before they arrived, he had left. He also texted several friends and said "tell everyone I’m sorry.”
Jim also sent a text message to his girlfriend who texted him back, saying she loved him.
Jim had attended Alan B. Shephard High School in Palos Heights. He was attending an accelerated three-year bachelor’s program at DeVry University. He was due to graduate from college in June. He was paying his own way through school.
Family members said that Jim was never into drugs and was never in trouble. He was family oriented.

Saint Bernadette of Lourdes, who said: "I am ground like a grain of wheat", pray for Jim |
If you are depressed, speak up. Seek help. Speak to a family member, a friend, a priest or pastor or a counsellor. Many people will attempt to help you. Many people will attempt to get you through a bad period. No one really wants anyone else to suffer.
Jim is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother and father (Jim); his sister Amanda, his aunt and grandfather; and his best friend Anthony.
Pray that Jim is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
