Chad Key - Law Enforcement - Texas

Deputy Sheriff Chad Key, age 42, died in the line of duty, on April 20, 2013, on a roadway in Grayson County, Texas.

Chad was a member of the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. He had 3 1/2 years of service in law enforcement. He worked full time as a corrections officer at the Grayson County Jail and then put in a four hour shift as a Sheriff's Deputy. He had served as a patrol deputy for only two months.

Chad was directing traffic at a local intersection before 10:30 p.m. when he was struck by a driver who failed to stop.

The driver was drunk and was arrested a short distance away. The subject was a

habitual drunk driver who was out on bond on a previous drunk driving arrest.

Chad recently graduated from the Grayson College police academy, where he finished in the top of his class.

His police colleagues are in mourning over his passing. They describe him as a sweet-spirited man, who treated others with respect.

Chad is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and his three sons.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
