Robert Sonnenburg III - soldier killed in Training Accident

Spc. Robert Sonnenburg III, age 26, died in the line of duty on February 22, 2013, at the Las Vegas University Medical Center. 

He had been injured in a training accident at the National Training Center in San Bernardino County, California, on February 20.

He joined the U.S. Army in Turner, Oregon, in in January of 2010 and deployed in November of 2010 for a year to Iraq. He was a 19 Delta Cavalry Scout who had been stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, and was on rotation at the National Training Center.

Military officials stated that Robert was a well respected member of Comanche Troop with an infectious smile, whose presence will be sorely missed by his brothers in arms.

Friends said that he had a sense of humor that boosted morale.

Robert is survived by many loving friends and relatives.
