Judy and Dennis Schulte - killed by a driver in Seattle

Judy and Dennis Schulte
Dennis Schulte, age 66, and his wife, Judy Schulte, age 68, died on March 25, 2013, on a street in a north Seattle neighbourhood.

Dennis and Judy were killed when a pickup truck driver hit them as they were crossing the street with their daughter-in-law, Karina Schulte, and 10-day-old grandson, Elias. All four were struck by the vehicle.

Karina and the baby, Elias, were hospitalized in very critical condition. Karina Schulte, age 33, works as a pediatric nurse specialist.

Both Dennis and Judy were retired educators with strong reputations for caring for their students.

Former colleagues describe Judy and Dennis as caring and giving. They were there for others and were helpful to their students.

Dennis and Judy flew out last month from Kokomo, Indiana, to witness the birth of
Mark Mullan
their grandson and intended to stay in the Seattle area for six months to be near their son's family. They were renting an apartment near the intersection where they were killed.

The baby was their only grandchild.

Charged with crashing into the Schulte family, is Mark Mullan, age 50. He has a suspended license and several D.U.I. cases in his past. Tests at the scene indicated blood alcohol levels at almost 3 times the legal limit. A police officer stated that he smelled alcohol on Mullan's breath and that Mullan showed impairment on sobriety tests.

Mark Mullan told police he was unable to see the pedestrians because the sun was in

his eyes.

Judy and Dennis Schulte are survived by many loving friends and relatives including their son, Dan.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and gone the next. Amen.

Pray for the recovery of Karina and Elias.

God save us from the drunk drivers. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Let us pray that Judy and Dennis are in heaven. Let us pray that they are at peace and are with God. Amen.
