Markie Sims

Pfc. Markie T. Sims, age 20, of Citra, Florida, died on December 29, 2012, in Panjwal, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. 

He was assigned to the 38th Engineer Company, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, under control of the 7th Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

Markie Sims graduated from Marion Technical Institute in Ocala in June of 2011. 

He joined the military in November of 2011, trained at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and was assigned to his first duty station at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.  This was his first tour of duty in Afghanistan. 

His awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon and NATO Medal.

Markie is survived by many loving friends and relatives.

Thank you for serving, Markie.

Pray for the 20 year olds who die in War. Yesterday, they were just boys. 

Let us pray that Markie Sims is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
