Dale Means

Lance Cpl. Dale W. Means, age 23, of Jordan, Minnesota, died on November 18, 2012, of injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. 

He was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Dale graduated in 2007 from New Prague High School in New Prague, 35 miles south of the Twin Cities.  He also attended Dakota County Technical College. He enlisted in the Marines in early 2011.  This was his first tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Family members said Dale joined the Marines because he wanted to do something important in his life. He had a love of life.

Dale was married on October 15, 2011 to his high school sweetheart, Andrea. 

Friends said that Dale loved big trucks, 4 wheelers and snowmobiles.  They describe him as bright, passionate about what he did, funny, kind-hearted and honest.

Dale is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his sister, JoLyn Means; and his wife, Andrea Means.
