Christopher Monahan Jr.

Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr., age 25, of Island Heights, New Jersey, died on November 26, 2012, of injuries sustained when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, while on patrol in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. 

Chris graduated from Central Regional High School in Bayville in 2005 and enlisted shortly thereafter in the Marines. 

This was his third overseas deployment. He had previously served two tours of duty in Iraq.

Family members stated that Chris was the guy everybody looked up to. He was well liked in school, played sports and volunteered for everything. They said that he wanted his kids to be proud of him. 

He wanted to make the military his career. He was scheduled to come home in 73 days. 

Christopher is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother; his sister and brother; and his 3 children - ages 6, 4 and 1. 

Thank you for serving, Christopher. 

Let us pray that Christopher Monahan Jr. is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
