Scott Smith

Australian Corporal Scott Smith, age 24, of Barossa Valley, South Australia died on October 21, 2012, in Uruzgan Province, Afghanistan. He was killed by an improvised explosive device.

He was a member of the Special Operations Engineer Regiment based at Holsworthy Barracks in Sydney.

Corporal Smith had been in the army more than six years and was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. He had also previously served in the Solomon Islands.

Family members stated that they knew the Army was Scott's second family, his home away from home. Scott truly believed his actions made a difference; he was a truly dedicated soldier who also knew how to relax in his time away from work.

Father, place Scott on the
stairway to Heaven
Scott loved sports including skiing, running and cricket.

They describe Scott as generous in spirit, thoughtful of others and having a sense of humor.

Scott is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his mother, Katrina Paterson; father, Murray Smith; his sister, Roxanne; and his partner, Liv.

Thank you for serving, Scott.

Let us pray that Scott Smith is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
