Kateri Tekakwitha - Aboriginal Saint

Kateri Tekakwitha was born in New York State in 1656.

Her father was an Iroquois and not a Christian and her mother was an Algonquin Christian.

Keteri was hit with smallpox at the age of six. Some of her family died from the disease.  Tekakwitha was left scarred and disfigured, but alive.

Kateri Tekakwitha, pray for us.
After a move to her uncle’s home near Montreal in Canada, Tekakwitha was baptized by Jesuit missionaries. She was given the Catholic name “Kateri,” which is Mohawk for Catherine.

Years of prayers have been devoted to Kateri Tekakwitha, a woman who never let her faith waver despite persecution from her fellow natives.  She was known for her piety and for her devotion to the Father.

Several miracles of healing have been attributed to Kateri Tekakwitha for those who have asked her to pray to the Father on their behalf.  Miracles in her name have occurred.

God bless all of the angels and all of the saints and all of the martyrs.  Amen.

God bless Kateri Tekakwitha. She dedicated her life to God.  Amen.
