Glen Doherty - killed in Libya

Glen Doherty, age 42, died on September 11, 2012, in Benghazi, Libya.

Glen was working for a private security company hired by the US state department to guard the American ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens.

Glen and three others were killed during protests and riots directed at the Embassy over an internet film which ridicules the Prophet Muhammad and the Islamic religion.

Glen Doherty was a former US navy special forces soldier and the co-author of a book two years ago titled "Navy Seal Sniper: An Intimate Look at the Sniper of the 21st Century". He was a combat-decorated Seal who served the US navy for nine years and who trained operators all over the world. He attended the Seal special forces medical school and also trained as a sniper. He served in the military in Iraq and Afghanistan. After he left the navy in 2005, he moved into private security. He spent time in Israel, Pakistan and Kenya, among other countries. He also previously served a three month stint in Libya.
Gabriel, Archangel, pray for Glen

Family members describe Glen as their American hero and a wonderful person.

Comrades stated that he was a great coach and mentor to many he worked with.

Glen is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his mother, Barbara Doherty; and his sister Kate Quigley.

God save us from the extremists of every religion. They will kill you in the name of God.

Let us pray that Glen Doherty is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
