Thomas Kennedy

Maj. Thomas E. Kennedy, age 35, of West Point, New York, died on August 8, 2012, in Sarkowi, in Kunar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he encountered an insurgent who detonated a suicide vest. 

He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.

Thomas graduated from West Point in 2000. He had previously served two tours in Iraq. 

His deployment to Afghanistan had just begun on July 18, 2012. 

He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medals. He had previous been awarded 24 medals, awards and ribbons.

Thomas is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his wife Kami and their two young children.

Let us pray that Thomas Kennedy is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
