Theodore Glende

Pfc. Theodore M. Glende, age 23, of Rochester, New York, died on July 27, 2012, in Kharwar, Logar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small-arms fire.

Theodore was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Vicenza, Italy.

Theodore was known as "Matt" to many of his friends and family. His second name is Matthew.

Theodore was a graduate of McQuaid Jesuit High School in Brighton. He later graduated from Niagara University where he was in the ROTC program.

High school officials describe Theodore as a good kid. 

Family members stated that he always wanted to be in the military. 

He was married on April 16, 2012. His wife has stated "I want people to recognize the truly heroic sacrifice he made. He saved five people that day and was the only casualty in the firefight." 

Theodore is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his wife Alexandra.

Let us pray that Theodore Glende is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
