Jonathan Batista

Spc. Jonathan Batista, age 22, of Kinnelon, New Jersey, died on July 8, 2012, in Zharay, Kandahar province, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire.

He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

He enrolled in the army as an infantryman in March of 2010, and served as a mine detector operator. He attended unit training at Fort Benning, Georgia, and joined A Battery, 2nd Battalion, 321st Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division on October 24, 2011.
Angels of God, pray for Jonathan.
Yesterday, he was just a kid.

This was his first deployment to Afghanistan.

Military officials stated that Jon was a devoted son, a caring brother and husband, and a dedicated paratrooper. They also describe him as courageous.

Jonathan is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife.

Let us pray that Jonathan Batista is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
