Police Officer William Charley Coen, age 57, died on June 10, 2012, in the line of duty, near Buffalo, Oklahoma.

Charley was a member of the Laverne Police Department and a reserve officer for the Harper County Sheriff's Office. He had been with the Laverne Police Department since September of 2010, and joined the Harper County Sheriff's Office in December of 2011.

Jesus, pray for Charley
Charley was killed in a single-vehicle crash shortly after midnight while responding to an emergency assistance call in Laverne. He was traveling on Highway 64, about two miles west of Buffalo, Oklahoma, when his patrol car left the roadway on a curve and struck several large hay bales. He was able to call for help, saying he was pinned in the car and needed an ambulance.

Emergency crews were immediately dispatched, but before they arrived the hay bales caught fire. Charley was trapped inside his vehicle and could not escape. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Charley is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his wife and two children.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die violently and tragically.

Let us pray that Charley Coen is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
