Steven Stevens II

Pfc. Steven P. Stevens II, age 23, of Tallahassee, Florida, died on June 22, 2012, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was hit by shrapnel from a grenade.

He was assigned to 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Steven grew up in northwest Detroit, attended Cass Technical High School and went to Florida A&M University on a swimming scholarship, where he excelled at many swimming endeavors.

Angels of God, pray for
Steven and for his son who
will never know his father
After two years of college, Stevens joined the Marines to serve his country. He had been deployed to Afghanistan on March 21, 2012. He was scheduled to return home in October of 2012.

His son was born on March 29, 2012. Steven never met his child but he did see his son on the Internet by way of Skype.

Fellow Baptist Church members describe Steven as a polite, quiet young man who loved his family very much and who was committed to the service of his country.

Steven is survived by many loving friends and relatives, including his parents Lois and Steve Stevens; his wife, Monique and their infant son, Kairo.

Let us pray that Steven Stevens II is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
