School is out...In Afghanistan

Gassed girls in the hospital - May, 2012
120 girls and 3 teachers at an Afghan School in Takhar Province, Afghanistan, were attending classes a few days ago, when many of them fell ill.

Supposedly, an unidentified toxic powder had been released into the classrooms to contaminate the air.

The female students were hospitalized after complaining of nausea, headaches and dizziness. Many girls were left unconscious.  A similar poison attack took place last month, when 150 schoolgirls were poisoned in Takhar province after drinking contaminated water.

We can't go to school - we will be poisoned
Afghan police and education officials blame the attack on conservative radicals and Taliban insurgents who oppose the education of women and girls.

550 schools have been closed down by insurgents in provinces with a strong Taliban presence.

This is too bizarre and off the wall to be comprehended by any one who lives in the 21st century.

Apparently, the Taliban want their women to be kept barefoot and pregnant. They also want their women to be kept as dumb as a bag of hammers. By doing so, they prevent women from questioning their husbands, their sons, and their government on their archaic and out of scope actions.

Apparently, in Aghanistan, silence and ignorance are golden.

If anyone wonders why there is a NATO military presence in this dirt pile of a country and why our brave, young men die there...this is the reason....to try to establish peace, justice and reason in a country that lives in the 13th century.

God help our troops who go there. Amen

God help the women of Afghanistan. Amen
