Alejo Thompson

1st Lt. Alejo Thompson, age 30, of Yuma, Arizona, died on May 11, 2012, in Parwan Province, of injuries sustained when his unit came under fire while on patrol.

Alejo was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division.

He was just more than two months into his second overseas deployment. He had previously deployed in March of 2003 to Iraq, and completed a tour that lasted more than 10 months.

During his nearly 12-year career, Alejo earned numerous commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal, Fort Carson said. He was posthumously given the Purple Heart and recommended for the Bronze Star.

Alejo is survived by many loving friends and relatives. 

Let us pray that Alejo Thompson is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Let the perpetual light shine upon you. I hope that you will rest in peace. I know your job wasn't done on earth. God always takes the best because he needed the best to watch over us. You have let a part of you in all of us. And now I have another guardian Angel.
