Ramon Kaipat

Lance Cpl. Ramon T. Kaipat, age 22, of Tacoma, Washington, died on April 11, 2012, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.

Family members stated that Ramon was killed by an improvised explosive device while on patrol. This was his second combat deployment. 

Ramon was born in Saipan. His family came to Tacoma in 2004. He graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 2007. 

Family members stated that Ramon loved playing football, listening to music and being with family. They also stated that Ramon died doing what he loved – serving his country – and that his family loved him. They describe him as fun-loving, caring and helpful. 

He was only one month away from leaving the service and going to college. 

Ramon is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, Pete and Sinforosa Kaipat; younger brother, Pedro; and older sister, Pearllita. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Ramon Kaipat is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
