Jaime Padron - Law Enforcement - Texas

Senior Police Officer Jaime Padron, age 41, died on April 6, 2012, in Austin, Texas.

Jaime was a member of the Austin Police Department. He had 3 years of service with the Department and had previously served with the Austin Airport Police Department and the San Angelo Police Department for 14 years.

Jaime was shot and killed after responding to an incident at a Walmart store to investigate reports of an intoxicated man at approximately 2:30 am. Upon arriving at the scene, Officer Padron was immediately attacked by the man and was shot once in the neck at point blank range. Despite being wounded, he was able to inform dispatchers that he had been shot. Two Walmart employees tackled the suspect and held him down until responding units arrived and placed him under arrest.

Jaime Padron succumbed to his wounds at the scene. The suspect has been charged with capital murder.

Jaime was a military veteran and had served in the Gulf War. 

Police officials describe Jaime as an outstanding cop. 

Jaime is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his parents, siblings, and his 2 young daughters, ages 10 and 6. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.
