Jesse Grindey

Staff Sgt. Jesse J. Grindey, age 30, of Hazel Green, Wisconsin, died on March 12, 2012, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan.

As of this date, the cause of his death has not been released.

Jesse was assigned to 287th Military Police Company, 97th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Riley, Kansas.

He was born in Cuba City and grew up in Hazel Green, graduating from Southwestern High School in 2000. He enlisted in the Army in 2002 and served a year in Iraq soon after and in Korea and Japan. He was deployed to Afghanistan on Dec. 31, 2011. 

Jesse had been a volunteer firefighter in Hazel Green at the age of 17.

His awards include the Army Commendation Medal with five oak leaf clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Iraqi Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon with three stars, the Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and the Army Service Ribbon.

Family members describe Jesse as a great kid who loved to help people. 

Jesse is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his father, Richard Grindey; mother Sara Grindey; his wife, Mary and his son Jesse Jr. (age 3) and daughter Joanna (age 2).

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Jesse Grindey is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
