Britney Meux - Law Enforcement - Indiana

Corrections Officer Britney Meux, age 25, died on March 6, 2012, in Crown Point, Indiana.

Britney was a member of the Lake County Sheriff's Department. She had 4 years of service. 

Britney was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver at approximately 7:00 pm. She and three other corrections officers were jogging near to the Lake County Jail, while exercising at the end of their shift, when a vehicle struck all four officers. Officer Meux was killed instantly. The other three officers were transported to hospitals. The driver of the vehicle that struck the officers fled the scene and remains at large.

Police officials state that the driver accelerated into the officers just before impact. 

Britney graduated from Gary's Lew Wallace High School and was attending Indiana University Northwest. She had also served in the United States Marine Corps. 

Police officials stated that Britney was a respected corrections officer with a desire to serve her community in law enforcement and that she was little in stature but she was a real go-getter on the job.

Britney is survived by many loving friends and relatives including her 5 month old daughter, Savannah. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that Britney Meux is in heaven. Let us pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen
