William Coleman - Law Enforcement - Arizona

Deputy Sheriff William Coleman, age 50, died in the line of duty on January 8, 2012, in Anthem, Arizona.

William was a member of Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, in Arizona. He had 20 years of service. 

He and another deputy were responding to a burglary call in Anthem at approximately 4:15 am. The officers encountered a male subject inside of a van at a medical building. As they attempted to make contact with the man he opened fire on them with a rifle, striking Deputy Coleman below his vest. 

The suspect was killed by return gunfire from other deputies.

Deputy Coleman was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.

Police officials stated that William was a great deputy and a great guy and that he was one of the guys you would go to, to learn how to do the job and he was well respected.

William is survived by many loving friends and relatives including his wife and two young children, ages 4 and 7. He also has grown children in another state. 

Pray for all who die in the line of duty. 

Let us pray to God the Father, Jesus, all of the saints and all of the angels that William Coleman is in heaven. Let us pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen
